  • Welcome!

My camera/s and passion for everything visual. And so began, Mandala Weddings. Inspired by the rich hues, ancient culture and religious traditions of the East, I specialize in extraordinary South Asian weddings. My roots in the hindu religion gives me the insight to understand the true meanings of the wedding ceremonies. A passion for south asian weddings and creating one-of-a-kind moments is the driving force of my photography. I want, more than anything, to help every bride and groom to create a photography experience that reflects their own unique perspectives. I love capturing unexpected moments and extraordinary details.

San Diego Engagement Session

San Diego Indian engagement photo session photographed by Braja Mandala a San Diego Indian wedding photographer

I shared the bright hues of yellows in yesterdays post. The second engagement photo location that Konica and Vik chose was Balboa Park. Tall buildings with intricate architecture was the backdrop to the rest of their San Diego engagement session. When photographing in locations with not much color I always suggest that the color come from the clothing that you wear. Even if you don’t have a bright colored dress a scarf or pashmina with bright colors adds a much needed pop to the photo.

Spring has sprung. It is one of my favorite times of year, we get to put away all of our winter coats and buy some new dresses. The bright floral colors of yellows and whites inspired me to photograph in this beautiful open field. I love the old wooden fence that was near the field. Konica’s yellow dress matched perfectly to the wild flowers blooming in the field. While walking on the trail Vik picked a few flowers for Konica, don’t you love how he placed them behind her ear, so cute. Below are a few of my favorites from their engagement session.

Engagement of Shivani & Vinod

We have been busy traveling to Hong Kong and San Francisco for weddings this month but we wanted to take a little time to post one of our favorite engagement sessions in Laguna Beach from a few weeks back. Shivani and Vinod’s engagement session was photographed at the Montage in Laguna Beach. Known for its unique rock formations and stunning coastline the Montage has one of the most spectacular beaches in Laguna Beach. I love the intimate photos that were taken of Shivani and Vinod, feels like they are the only two people on the beach.
Stay tuned for their Pelican Hill wedding, it is right around the corner. It is going to be a beautiful Indian wedding designed by San Diego wedding planner Thomas Bui.

From time to time we use props in our engagement sessions. For this Laguna Beach engagement session we used paper fortune tellers. Using a prop in their Laguna Beach engagement session gave Vinod and Shivani something to play and interact with and boy it sure did bring us all back to when we were kids.

Check out one of my other favorite engagement sessions in Santa Monica. I am sure you are going to love the vibrant colors.

William & Puja

In yesterday’s post I shared with you photos of William and Puja’s pre wedding ceremony photos. Today I wanted to share with you a few of my favorite photos from their Indian wedding ceremony that was held at the Hare Krishna temple in Laguna Beach. Indian weddings are full with color and tradition. From the puffed rice, the fire, to the garlands there are a lot of details to be captured in an Indian wedding. I love photographing all of these items because they all have specific purposes and meanings.
