Nina and Sam’s Destination Wedding Part I

Remember Nina and Sam’s epic India engagement session? Well, they just tied the knot. We flew to Boston to cover their pre wedding celebrations for a couple days. They had pujas at both their homes along with haldi and mendi and sangeet celebrations. After their pre wedding celebrations were completed we drove down the coast to New Jersey to photograph their wedding and reception. We took an entire day to travel down to New Jersey and took our time exploring Boston, Rhode Island and some other spots on the way. But when we arrived in New Jersey we were laser focused on capturing some great wedding day images for Nina and Sam.

We started off their wedding day morning with getting ready photos. We typically like to start taking photographs once the bride and groom are almost fully dressed and ready with hair and makeup. Its a nice quiet time of day and allows us to get some portraits right before all of their festivities start to take place.

After we took photos of their getting ready we went straight into their first look. Nina and Sam weren’t too keen on the typical “tap on the shoulder” for the first look so we had Nina wait under the mandap for Sam and had Sam walk to Nina, it created a dramatic way for them to see one another for the first time. After their first look we took bridal party photos and family photos. I always stress the importance of taking bridal party and family photos as these are the photos that end up in picture frames and hanging on your walls for years to come. So we always try to spend a fair amount of time taking photos like these.

Once the bridal party and family were taken care of we spent a little bit of time taking Nina and Sam’s portraits under their mandap. Since their mandap was so beautifully decorated we couldn’t think of a better place to take their photos. After their portraits were completed it was time for the baraat. This is one of my favorite times of the day when guests cut loose, dance and have a great time. We captured such fun photos for them. Below are some of our favorite pics from their morning, stay tuned for our next post when we share their ceremony photos.
