Orange County Indian Wedding Photographer – Braja Mandala bio picture
  • Welcome!

Inspired by the rich hues, ancient culture and religious traditions of the East, I specialize in extraordinary South Asian weddings. My roots in the Hindu religion gives me the insight to understand the true meanings of the wedding ceremonies. A passion for South Asian weddings and creating one-of-a-kind moments is the driving force of my photography. I want, more than anything, to help every bride and groom to create a photography experience that reflects their own unique perspectives.

I love capturing unexpected moments and extraordinary details.

Dapper Men

Let’s hear it for the boys!
Konica and Vik held their wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum. We started taking their photos a few hours before their ceremony at the Grand Colonial Hotel in La Jolla. We took photos of Konica and her girls getting ready as well as Vik and his boys. While the girls were getting dressed we photographed Vik along with his groomsmen trying to tie their ties and Vik writing his vows to Konica. Below is a page from their wedding album that truly tells the events of their morning. One of the things that we love to do is to take a photo of a detail, such as Vik’s vows to Konica, and juxtapose it next to a portrait. I think that it gives the wedding album page a little more interest.

Get their wedding look, below are the team of wedding professionals that made Konica and Vik’s wedding a day to remember

Hotel Del Coronado – Featured in Maharani Weddings

San Diego is such a beautiful place to get married. Year round sunshine, and the wedding of Ashley and Dipan was no exception. Ashley and Dipan held their wedding at the Hotel Del Coronado, which is well know for being the backdrop for the comedy classic “Some Like It Hot,” starring Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon.

I love the getting ready photos of them both but one of my favorite photos of this series is of Ashley being helped by her mother in law. I love the smile captured on her face. Ashley is an amazing person. Her family owns the Monsoon Group, a chain of luxury Indian restaurants in San Diego including Bombay Restaurant, Monsoon Restaurant and Masala Restaurant. Ashley works as the executive chef and has won Best Chef Award for SD Asian Magazine, she has cooked for such people as the Dali Lama and the King of Jordan. I was really happy to have the opportunity to capture the moments of their wedding day.

We were so happy to find out that Maharani Weddings loved Ashley and Dipan’s wedding. They featured the wedding on their site. CLICK HERE to view full post.

I love the detail on Dipan’s shoes.

I will be posting more of their wedding photos including their Barratt and reception that was designed by Smita of Ethnic Essence.

BEAUTIFUL Indian Wedding Henna Night

I love it when girls can get together and have fun. Most every Indian bride has Henna applied a few days before her wedding, it allows the henna to stain her hands and feet and darken in color before the wedding. Traditionally the grooms initials are hidden in the patterns. On the wedding night the groom searches for the initials that are hidden in the bride’s henna design. If he can’t find his initials he is expected to give a gift to his new bride!

This game of “hide and seek” has been played for generations, usually as an icebreaker for couples in arranged marriages. It was meant for the couple to feel more comfortable with each other.

We were able to capture some of the fun and creative henna art during Shivani’s henna night.
